CLASSES
Tiny Tots, Tots, Kid Combo: Ballet/Tap Combination Class- 30 min ballet, 30 min tap. This class is tailored for the beginning dancer and begins with a “break the ice” into, followed by barre, beginning technique, across the floor and center combinations, and ends with choreography.
Dance Basics 1-4: Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combination Class- 30 min ballet, 30 min tap, 30 min jazz. This class is taught at many different levels, depending on the class’ ability. Each genre begins with a complete warm-up (barre for ballet, rhythm steps for tap and stretching for jazz), across the floor, and choreography in the center.
Karate- 45 min. Taught by guest instructor Bruce Epperson. Beginning level of karate with tumbling, all ages welcome.
Teen/Adult Jazz- 1 hour. A beginning level class that begins with a full warm-up, across the floor technique, and with choreography in the center. The style of jazz rotates weekly to provide a broad knowledge and and understanding of all discliplines. The recital routine this year will be hip-hop.
Adult Tap- 1 hour. A beginning/intermediate class that is tailored to the level of its participants. Class begins with warm-ups, rhythm drills, new steps, and finishes with choreography.
Competition Team- 1 hour. A special focus class in addition to group class that is for dancers to learn dance choreography for competitions and special events. By invitation only.
Bellydancing- guest instructor Tanya Kieselbach. 60 min. ,8 week session of beginning bellydancing. Warm-ups, beginning technique, traveling steps, and a dance are learned.
Ballroom Dancing- guest instructors Michael and Martha Magroo. 90 min., 6 week session of various ballroom styles including varying classical ballroom and latin styles. Class limited to ten couples.
Private Lessons- must be enrolled concurrently in group class, for more advanced students only. Solos are 30 minutes, duets 30-45 minutes, trios and larger 60 minutes.
Proper Attire
(Shoes and dancewear are available through Sherry at the studio)
*Hair must be pulled back and out of the face!
Ballet- any color leotard and tights, skirts may be worn. Capezio pink ballet shoes (not slippers with slippery suede bottoms).
Tap- comfortable clothes and black tap shoes. Please replace the ties with elastic- a lot of time is wasted by the teacher having to tie and retie shoes!!! This way your child is able to put on her own shoes if you are not there.
Jazz- black jazz shoes will be required for the recital. It is acceptable to wear ballet shoes for jazz until then, but you have more traction for turns and jumps with jazz shoes.
Karate- must pay $40 at the time of enrollment for outfit. No shoes.
Bellydancing- comfortable clothes, use of a scarf or shawl enhances hip movement, no shoes.
Ballroom- comfortable clothes, no tennis shoes, women should wear heels.
